‘We didn’t think they’d make it out of the hospital’ – Arklow triplets mark another milestone having defied the odds

A type of organised chaos descended on the Hyland household on the Beach Road in Arklow recently. Inside one bedroom, parents Pauric and Eve were brushing hair, putting on dresses and frantically searching for shoes as they readied their beautiful family of seven children to mark another milestone. Eight year-old triplets Camilla, Rose and Eva were ready to make their First Holy Communion.

hile preparing seven children, aged from 12 down to 2, for a big family event would be stressful enough for some people, for solicitor Pauric and teacher Eve it pales in comparison to the stressful start they had with the triplets. Born at just 24 weeks, they are among the earliest born surviving triplets in the country.
