Watch: The Stormers’ road to the URC final

The Stormers have trod a difficult path to the inaugural United Rugby Championship final, overcoming a rough start to finish on top of the South African Shield.

Here’s how they reached the final.

The Stormers were without a win until the fourth round of the championship when they picked up their first win of the campaign against the Dragons in Wales.

A loss at home against the Lions looked to be disastrous at the time but the Stormers rallied from that disappointment.

They came close to pulling off a sensational win in Ireland in their tenth outing, before being cruelly denied.

Winning eight matches in a row, the Stormers went on to snatch second place on the log and secure home advantage for what proved to be the entire knockout phase.

In the semi-final, the Stormers rallied from a frustrating performance against a dogged and streetwise opponent, but in the end Ulster couldn’t keep out the endless waves of Stormers’ attacks.

A final against the Bulls will be a completely different affair but is likely to ramp up the intensity of the match.
