In what is surely another slap in the face for Chris Rock, Will Smith has been captured on camera ‘gettin’ jiggy with it’ at the Oscar’s after party.
Only hours after assaulting the comedian when he made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett, Will was spotted dancing, seemingly without a care in the world, at the party hosted by Vanity Fair.
In the vision, Smith can be seen holding the best actor Oscar he won for his performance in King Richard, as he raps to the beat of his own song Gettin’ Jiggy With It, released in 1999.
He dances among a sea of people holding cameras, including his wife Jada Pinkett, and at one point a fluffy white dog.
Will received both praise and criticism for his behavior at the after party.
“The Vanity Fair Oscars Party should have refused entry to Will Smith. Sad to see Vanity Fair okay with normalising violence” one person wrote.
“I for one love how Will Smith is not letting the haters steal his joy and showed up with all his family to the after party. Then danced. That’s how you do it baby,” said another.
Late on Sunday night (Hollywood time) The Academy tweeted, saying it “does not condone violence”.
“The Academy does not condone violence of any form. Tonight we are delighted to celebrate our 94th Academy Awards winners, who deserve this moment of recognition from their peers and movie lovers around the world.”
However many were quick to say that the statement didn’t hold any meaning, as awarding Will the Oscar only moments after the assault, was in fact condoning the violence.
Chris has declined to file a police report over the ugly altercation, local police say.
Will left those in attendance at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre and those watching at home around the world utterly stunned after storming the stage to slap the comedian on the face.
The incident unfolded after Chris made a joke about Will’s wife’s short hair.
Returning to his seat, Will yelled: “Keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth.”
In the wake of the shock incident, many pondered whether there would be any legal fallout for Will.
However the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed this afternoon Perth time that Rock would not pursue the matter at this stage.
“LAPD investigative entities are aware of an incident between two individuals during the Academy Awards program,” the department said, according to Variety.
“The incident involved one individual slapping another.
“The individual involved has declined to file a police report. If the involved party desires a police report at a later date, LAPD will be available to complete an investigative report.”
A stunned Chris managed to remain relatively cool in the seconds after the bizarre hit.
“Will Smith just smacked the s*** out of me,” he said.
He added: “It was a joke about GI Jane.”
Jada Pinkett, who sported a shaved head at the 94th Academy Awards, has struggled with alopecia and previously revealed her hair loss struggle.
