The Toronto Blue Jays’ bats continue to make noise despite falling 6-5 in last night’s game against the Baltimore Orioles.
It was just the Blue Jays’ fifth loss in their last 19 games, so they’ll be hungry to bounce back as Jose Berrios looks for his third strong start in a row.
So, with the series tied at one win apiece, where is the value in MLB betting with the Blue Jays as big favourites once again tonight?

Bruce Zimmerman (2-5, 5.52 ERA): After a solid start to the season, the wheels have fallen off for Zimmermann. The lefty has pitched to a 9.47 ERA and has surrendered a whopping 12 home runs over his last five starts.
Jose Berrios (5-2, 4.73 ERA): Berrios is finally starting to build some momentum in June. In two starts this month the right-hander has allowed three runs on eight hits while striking out 18 over 15 innings.

Run line analysis
The Blue Jays tried but they could come back from the hole Yusei Kikuchi and Trevor Richards dug them yesterday in an eventual 6-5 loss. Tonight, they’re hoping they can get a better outing out of Jose Berrios.
The Blue Jays’ Opening Day starter has put together consecutive strong outings. Berrios limited the Minnesota Twins to two runs on three hits while striking out 13 over seven innings back on June 4 and followed that up with eight innings of five-hit, one-run ball against the Tigers on June 10.
Now, he faces a scrappy Orioles lineup that was able to jump on Kikuchi early yesterday. If Berrios can settle in quickly, it could be a long night for an O’s team that ranks 25th in batting average and 22nd in OPS when facing righties, and could be without one of their best hitters in Trey Mancini once again.
The bigger problem for the O’s tonight is the Jays’ offence. During this 19-game stretch, where the Jays are 14-5, they lead the MLB in batting average, OPS, and wRC+, and Bruce Zimmermann doesn’t exactly look like the guy who can slow them down.
The lefty has hit about as bad a rough patch as a starter can. As a result, Zimmermann has seen his expected ERA balloon to 6.44 while opponents are now hitting .313 against him for the season. (With all those dingers he’s given up, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to hit one at +340 may be worth a sprinkle).
The Jays’ offence is still rolling and should get a better performance out of their starter tonight. Back them to win by a couple of runs.
Prediction: Blue Jays -1.5 (-142 at FanDuel)
Covers MLB betting analysis
With Kikuchi on the mound and the Jays’ offence playing the way it is, the Over 9 looked like a solid bet yesterday, and it was. But, with the Blue Jays sending Berrios to the bump tonight, the number is a higher 9.5 for some reason.
Yes, the Jays’ offence should do its part in this one, but if Berrios pitches well, you could basically be asking them to take this one Over by themselves. The Orioles can score, but at times it certainly seems like all or nothing with them. Overall, they rank 25th in runs per game.
Berrios also pitched well against the O’s last season, giving up just two earned runs on 12 hits while striking out 13 in 13 2-3 innings over two starts.
The confidence meter on this one is pretty low, but this one should just sneak Under this number.
Prediction: Under 9.5 (-110 at bet365)
So, we are basically playing pass the baton with Blue Jays’ total bases props and tonight it’s Santiago Espinal’s turn.
The unheralded Blue Jays infielder, who was known more for his glove than his bat, is having a breakout season at the plate. Espinal is hitting .294 with five home runs and 31 RBI this season, but he has taken his game to the next level in June.
He’s hitting .392 with a 1.103 OPS in 13 games this month, going Over 1.5 total bases 10 times over that stretch. We are getting +130 on this bet.
Oh, yeah, and Espinal is hitting .364 vs. lefties this season.
Pick: Santiago Espinal Over 1.5 total bases (+130)
