Children’s summer camp

nniscorthy Christian Fellowship will be holding their annual free Children’s Summer Camp in Enniscorthy next month.

The camps will take place in Gaelscoil Inis Corthaidh, Drumgoold, from Monday, July 18, to Friday, July 22, from 10.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. They will be aimed at children aged between 5 and 12 .

There will also be a free Youth Summer Camp for 11 to 18-year-olds in the Astro Active Centre, Bellefield, from Tuesday, July 19, to Thursday, July 21, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Everyone in the community is also welcome to attend a free Family Fun Day on Saturday, July 23, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Astro Active.

Parish fete

A parish fete and Family Fun Day will be held in the Enniscorthy showgrounds on Saturday, June 18, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

An exciting array of food, stalls, games and activities will be on site including: a bumper raffle; afternoon tea; bric-a-brac, ladies fashion, cakes and country produce, BBQ burgers, a bottle stall, toys and books, face painting, nail varnish, children’s games and  activities, in addition to a pet dog show.

The categories for the dog show will include: best waggiest tail; best small dog; best large dog; and ‘the dog the judge would like to take home’.

A spokes person for the organising committee said: “We are hoping that this will be a most enjoyable day for families to attend. There is ample parking on site, and we look forward to welcoming friends from across the county to our Fete.”

Obituaries

The Enniscorthy Guardian offers tribute obituary pieces  for bereaved family members  and friends within the local community who have recently experienced the loss of a loved one.

The weekly service is offered free of charge and all obituaries are completed in a manner that is sensitive to your own personal wishes and requests.

The obituaries are also shaped entirely by your direction and are written in full consultation with you at all times and at all stages, thus ensuring they are a fitting tribute to the deceased person.

Active retired

Oulart Active Retired group meets up in Oulart Community Centre on Tuesdays, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., when bowls are played.

New members are always welcome to join the group. Anyone interested in getting  involved can just turn up on any Tuesday or phone Mary O’Grady on 087 9361325.

Enniscorthy volunteers

Enniscorthy Fáilte is looking for people’s assistance in identifying Ukranians  located in local parishes, so the organisation can link them into the support hub.

A spokesperson for the group said: “If you become aware of a refugee family housed near you, please contact [email protected] or message us on the Facebook page: @enniscorthyfailte.

“If you would like to volunteer with the Ukrainian refugees, Enniscorthy Fáilte is looking for help with ‘Befriending’ and for teachers or retired teachers who would give some time to assist with language courses,” said the spokesperson.

Full training and support will be given to all who volunteer and further details can be had by emailing [email protected] or by text via 087 3369967.

Field day in Oulart

Scoil Mochua National School, in Oulart is delighted to announce the return of the  field day on the afternoon of Sunday, June 26.

The event will take place immediately after the patron.

The organisers are now looking for volunteers to help out on the day.

Diocesan pilgrimage

The Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place from June 20 to 24. 

For people in the Marshalstown-Castledockrell area, Fr McDonald has a limited number of booking forms.

Alternatively, booking forms can also be ordered by contacting Fr Matt Boggan  (051 565610) or Joe Walsh Tours (01 2410800).

There will no disabled or youth section this year.

All vehicle road run

Coláiste Abbain Parents Association, in Adamstown, together with Shamrock Vintage Club will hold an All Vehicle Road Run on Sunday, June 26.

Registration will take place from 11 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and the cost of participating will be €20 per vehicle, which includes dinner and dessert.

All proceeds from the event will to towards Coláiste Abbain Walking Track and the support of everyone in the community will be very much appreciated.

Field evening

After a two year break Ballindaggin Development Group will be holding a field evening on Friday,  June 17. 

The event will get under way at 7 p.m. and will take place on the school grounds. Parking facilities will be available in the village car park and at the church.

A spokesperson for the organising committee said the event promises to be a great fun-filled evening out for all the family with many attractions including bottle stall, cake stall, brick-a-brack, shop, teas, pony rides, children’s races to name but a few. There will also be a timber sale and timber auction.

Admission to the event will be free-of-charge and everyone in the community and from across the district and beyond is encouraged to attend.

“With the increase in insurance and some maintenance work to be carried out in the  park we’re asking everyone for their support especially those who use the  park,” said the spokesperson.

Enniscorthy patrons

Local patrons in the Ennisorthy district will be taking place on the following dates: Caim – Sunday June 19, at 2 p.m. with mass in the cemetery; Ballindaggin – Friday, June 24, at 7 p.m. with prayers in Templeshanbo and 7.30 p.m mass in Ballindaggin; Kiltealy – Sunday, August 7, with 1 p.m. prayer in the church graveyard and 1.30 p.m. mass in the new cemetery. 

Glenbrien patron

Glenbrien patron will take place on Sunday, June 26.

Prayers and the blessing of graves will take place in the cemetery at 2 p.m., to be followed with the blessing of graves around the church.

If you wish to have your deceased remembered on the List of the Dead read out during the prayers, please drop in the list to the sacristy at weekend Masses or to the Parochial House in Oylegate.

Boolavogue concert

A very special concert will take place in St Cormac’s Church, Boolavogue, on Sunday, July 3, at 7.30 p.m. 

The concert is being organised by Louise Lawless as part of her campaign to become Mayor of Boolavogue.

The guests on the night will include: Cllr George Lawlor; the Gallery Choir of St Iberius Church; Sessions Sisters & Friends; Lorcan and Lorraine Dunne; Patrick Murphy; Mary Crosbie and Mayor of Oulart, Martin Fortune.

The MC on the night will be Conor Dempsey.

The cost of tickets is €10 and there will be a door prize and raffle. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
