The latest trailer for Chris Hemsworth’s Thor franchise has been released, with a bunch of familiar faces but also a very bare Hemsworth.
The Australian superstar has teamed up with New Zealand director Taika Waititi once again for the fourth Thor film, shot in Sydney.
Natalie Portman, returning for the first time since the second movie, will reprise her role as Jane Foster. In the new trailer, we see Hemsworth and Portman’s characters interacting more.
“What’s it been, like three, four years,” Portman’s character says to Hemsworth.
“Eight years, seven months and six days, give or take,” Thor responds.
The latest trailer also shows newcomers, Christian Bale, who will take on the film’s villain, Gorr the God Butcher, and Russell Crowe as Zeus.
The full trailer was released during Game 4 of the NBA Eastern Conference finals series between the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat. It was later uploaded online.
Within an hour of dropping, the trailer had more than two million views on the Marvel Entertainment YouTube page alone.
The plotline for the next Thor movie will see the superhero attempt to find inner peace following the fall of Asgard and the events in the previous Avengers movie, Endgame. He must return to action and recruit Valkyrie, Korg and Jane Foster, who has become the Mighty Thor, to stop Gorr the God Butcher from eliminating all gods. Tessa Thompson will return as Valkyrie, Chris Pratt as Star-Lord and Waititi as Korg.
Thor: Love and Thunder will open in cinemas on July 7.
