The first look at the highly anticipated live-action Barbie movie has been released.
Australian sweetheart Margot Robbie will take centre stage as the icon herself, Barbie, with Hollywood heartthrob Ryan Gosling also confirmed to star in the flick as her Ken.
Warner Bros has revealed the film will be released in the US on July 21, 2023. An Australian release date has not been confirmed.
Production for the Barbie movie has been underway for the past few months.
So far, what we know is that the ensemble of stars is pretty impressive.
Saturday Night Live’s Kate McKinnon, X-Men star Alexandra Shipp, Ugly Betty’s America Ferrera, Marvel’s Simu Liu, And Just Like That actor Hari Nef and the hilarious Will Ferrell all co-star in the reimagining of Barbie’s world.
A promotional shot released from the movie shows Robbie grinning at the camera as she sits in front of a pink convertible.
Her blonde hair is accessorised by a blue and white polka dot headband, and she is wearing a blue and white halterneck top, with a matching blue and white bracelet.
The live-action adventure movie will be up against some major competition when it hits cinemas, coming up against Christopher Nolan’s war film Oppenheimer, starring Robert Downey Jr, Florence Pugh, Emily Blunt and Rami Malek.
