Annemarie and Hank & Band added to exciting Mallow Arts Fest line-up

HAVING already announced two headline concerts for this year’s event, organisers of the Mallow Arts Festival have added two more names to what is shaping up to be spectacular programme.

rganised by the Mallow Arts Collective, the festival had gained a reputation for bringing some of the top names on the Irish music scene to play in the town.

The 2022 edition is set to continue where the last festival left off, with Eleanor McAvoy opening it at the Hibernian Hotel on Wednesday, July 20 and Johnny Duhan playing the final concert at the same venue on Sunday, July 24

This week it emerged that Duhallow songstress Annemarie O’Riordan and popular Mallow-based singer/songwriter Hank Wedel and his band (featuring the great Declan Sinnott) have also been added to the festival line-up. Annemarie will play the Hibernian on Thursday, July 21 and Hank and his band the following evening.

Festival chairperson Tadgh Curtis said the committee was delighted to be able to add the two exciting gigs to the programme.

“Annmarie’s unique and distinctive voice and her interpretations of old Irish traditional ballads combined with her own original material has garnered her a large and loyal following,” he said.

Tadgh said he was delighted to announce that Hank had chosen the Arts Festival as the platform to launch his much-anticipated ‘Rakes of Mallow’ single and video, which features many well know local personalities and locations.

“Hanks concert during last year’s festival earned several standing ovations and tremendous reviews from all that attended. This year’s concert is set to surpass even that and tickets are expected to go in record time,” said Tadgh.

“The Rakes celebration is set to continue at the Hawks/Plaza on the following evening – with an evening of music, song, dance, pints, pizza and general mayhem promised,” he added.
